Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from June 5th, 2008, find Lego Indiana Jones making early sales waves on multiple platforms in the U.S. and the UK. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 4. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision), 5. Wii Play (Nintendo). Japan: 1. Fushigi no Dungeon - Fuurai no Shiren 3: Karakuri Yashiki no Nemuri Hime (Sega), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 4. Family Trainer (Bandai), 5. Wii Sports (Nintendo). UK: 1. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 2. Wii Play (Nintendo), 3. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega), 4. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 5. Wii Fit (Nintendo). After experiencing a lack of Wii Fit stock over the past two weeks, Amazon now additionally reports a shortage of the top-selling Mario Kart Wii in North America. Aftermarket prices for both titles are rapidly increasing, and both remain high in demand even at inflated third-party costs. The Wii version of Lego Indiana Jones also makes a big sales impression in its debut week, finishing third in North America and first in the UK. Japan finds its charts headed by ChunSoft's just-released roguelike sequel Fuurai no Shiren 3, as last week's sales leader Family Trainer falls to fourth place. Xbox 360 North America: 1. Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition (Activision), 2. Ninja Gaiden II (Tecmo), 3. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 4. Mass Effect (Microsoft), 5. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts). Japan: 1. Ninja Gaiden II (Tecmo), 2. Lost Planet: Colonies (Capcom), 3. The Orange Box (EA Games), 4. Overlord (Microsoft), 5. The Idolm@ster -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Namco). UK: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 2. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 3. Ninja Gaiden II (Tecmo), 4. Halo 3 (Microsoft), 5. Rock Band (EA Games). A discounted Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition tops Xbox 360 software sales in North America this week, edging out the debuting Ninja Gaiden II by a narrow margin. Grand Theft Auto IV maintains its U.S. footing after last week's third-place finish, meanwhile, as a recent universal price drop boosts Mass Effect back into top five territory. Ninja Gaiden II fares better in Japan, where it achieves a first-place sales finish in its premiere week. Japan's charts additionally see last week's sales victor Lost Planet: Colonies drop to second place, while The Orange Box moves up to take third. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (SCEA), 2. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 3. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 4. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (SCEA), 5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision). Japan: 1. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit (Bandai), 2. Senjou no Valkyria (Sega), 3. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Ubisoft), 4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision), 5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision). UK: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 2. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 3. Race Driver: GRID (Codemasters), 4. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (SCEE), 5. Assassin's Creed (Ubisoft). An Amazon-sponsored "Deal of the Day" promotion places Uncharted: Drake's Fortune at the top of this week's North American PlayStation 3 software sales chart, pushing Grand Theft Auto IV to second place. The PS3 version of Lego Indiana Jones also proves to be a popular seller in its first week of release, achieving weekly sales numbers that eclipse those of chart mainstays like Guitar Hero III and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit climbs to the top of Japan's chart in its first few days of release, meanwhile, as Senjou no Valkyria sees a sales increase that boosts it to second place. PlayStation 2 North America: 1. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 2. Rock Band Special Edition (EA Games), 3. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision), 4. Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection (Konami), 5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Activision). Japan: 1. Mana Khemia 2: Ochita Gakuen to Renkinjutsushi Tachi (Gust), 2. D.C. II P.S.: Da Capo II Plus Situation (Kadokawa Shoten), 3. Beatmania IIDX 14: GOLD (Konami), 4. Mana-Khemia: Gakuen no Renkinjutsushi-tachi -- Gust Best Price (Gust), 5. D.C. II P.S.: Da Capo II Plus Situation -- DX Pack (Kadokawa Shoten). UK: 1. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 2. FIFA 08 (EA Sports), 3. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami), 4. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision), 5. The Simpsons Game (EA Games). Lego Indiana Jones takes top honors in this week's PlayStation 2 sales results in North America and the UK. The bundled version of Rock Band trails close behind in the U.S., and remains a popular pick at Amazon due in large part to a recently discounted price. Sales for Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection remain steady, while Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES falls out of North America's weekly top five for the first time since its release in April. Elsewhere in the world, Mana Khemia 2 reclaims its previous spot atop Japan's weekly sales chart, while the previous week's leader Beatmania IIDX 14: GOLD falls to third in the wake of increased sales for D.C. II P.S.: Da Capo II Plus Situation. PC North America: 1. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (Eidos), 2. Mass Effect (EA Games), 3. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 4. World of Warcraft Battle Chest (Blizzard), 5. The Orange Box (EA Games). Japan: 1. Lost Planet: Colonies (Capcom), 2. Phantasy Star Universe: Illuminus no Yabou (Sega), 3. Crysis (EA Games), 4. Final Fantasy XI: Vana'diel Collection (Square Enix), 5. Alice in Deep Forest: Fukai Mori no Kuni no Alice (QuinRose). UK: 1. Mass Effect (EA Games), 2. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (Eidos), 3. Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition (Microsoft), 4. Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration Expansion Pack (Microsoft), 5. Football Manager 2008 (Sega). Demand for the Collector's Edition of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures cools rapidly after a restock last week at Amazon, leaving the regular edition to take its place as this week's top PC seller in the United States. Mass Effect moves up a spot to second place, while Lego Indiana Jones debuts at third. Japan's charts find the recently released Lost Planet: Colonies at first place, as Mass Effect takes the top spot in Europe. Nintendo DS North America: 1. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 2. Brain Age 2 (Nintendo), 3. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo), 4. Brain Age (Nintendo), 5. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo). Japan: 1. DS Yamamura Misa Suspense: Maiko Kogiku - Kisha Katherine - Sougiya Isa Akashi - Koto ni Maru Hana Sanrin: Kyoto Satujin Jinken File (Tecmo), 2. 99 no Namida (Namco), 3. Kuukan * Zukei: Hirameki Training - KuuTore (Benesse), 4. DS Bimoji Training (Nintendo), 5. Pro Yakyuu Team o Tsukurou! (Sega). UK: 1. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo), 2. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 3. 42 All-Time Classics (Nintendo), 4. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo), 5. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega). Lego Indiana Jones proves its sales strength on the Nintendo DS this week, topping sales even in the face of persistent competition from New Super Mario Bros. and the Brain Age series. Nintendo's lineup is so consistently popular that few titles manage to break into the region's weekly top five, and it's rarer still that any third-party DS game achieves a first-place victory. Japan's charts also see a shakeup this week, with Tecmo's DS Yamamura Misa Suspense adventure series sequel taking first place. Sega's baseball team management sim Pro Yakyuu Team o Tsukurou! has also seen a run of popularity in recent weeks, though supply shortages at Amazon prevent it from climbing higher than fifth place in this week's results. PlayStation Portable North America: 1. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (Square Enix), 2. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts), 3. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Rockstar), 4. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (Konami), 5. God of War: Chains of Olympus (SCEA). Japan: 1. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (Capcom), 2. Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu Portable 3 (Konami), 3. Clannad (Prototype), 4. Valhalla Knights 2 (Marvelous), 5. Memories Off (CyberFront). UK: 1. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami), 2. God of War: Chains of Olympus (SCEE), 3. FIFA 08 (EA Sports), 4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories -- Platinum (Rockstar), 5. Everybody's Golf 2 (SCEE). Lego Indiana Jones makes an impressive showing on the PSP this week in North America, but Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII ultimately wins out in weekly sales numbers. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops move up a chart place each, meanwhile, as Sony's God of War: Chains of Olympus tumbles to fifth place after finishing second in last week's chart. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd is back on top in Japan, meanwhile, after falling to third place in the week prior following a brief surge in popularity for Clannad and Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu Portable 3. Both titles still hold on strong in this week's results, while newcomer Memories Off debuts at fifth place.
