Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from July 16th, 2009, find NCAA Football 10 leading PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 software sales in North America, while Dragon Quest IX tops the multiplatform charts in Japan. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. EA Sports Active (EA Sports), 4. Punch-Out!! (Nintendo), 5. Wii Play (Nintendo). Japan: 1. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. Resort currently ranks as the biggest-selling item in Amazon's video games category in both regions. Wii Sports Resort continues its chart reign in Japan, meanwhile, finishing as the region's top Wii title for the second week in a row. Mario Kart Wii steals second place from Mario Kart Wii in the U.S. charts, as Punch-Out!! climbs up a spot to take fourth. Xbox 360 North America: 1. NCAA Football 10 (EA Sports), 2. Preorders for the recently announced Prestige Edition of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 rival the presale numbers for Wii Sports Resort in the United States this week, as both games rank among Amazon's top sellers. EA's NCAA Football 10 leads U.S. Xbox 360 software sales at Amazon in its first week of release, beating out a discounted Red Faction: Guerrilla and Gears of War 2. Last week's chart champion Prototype falls to fifth place, as BlazBlue makes another top five finish at fourth. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. NCAA Football 10 (EA Sports), 2. InFamous (SCEA), 3. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- Greatest Hits (Konami), 4. Prototype (Activision), 5. Fight Night Round 4 (EA Sports). Japan: 1. Pro Yakyuu Spirits 6 (Konami), 2. NCAA Football 10 takes top honors in this week's North American PlayStation 3 charts, leading over last week's sales winners InFamous and Prototype. Fight Night Round 4 returns to the regional top five at fifth place. In Japan, Konami's baseball sim sequel Pro Yakyuu Spirits 6 finishes first in its debut week, leaving the previous week's top title Rorona no Atelier: Arland no Renkinjutsushi at second place. In Japan, the long-awaited Dragon Quest IX tops the regional multiplatform charts in its first week of release, and is expected to remain a big seller for weeks to come.
