Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from March 15th, 2007, include PGA tours, roads to victory, and yet more warfighting, in the advanced sense. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Wii Play (Nintendo), 2. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (EA Sports), 3. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo), 4. WarioWare: Smooth Moves (Nintendo), 5. Sonic and the Secret Rings (Sega). Japan: 1. Wii Sports (Nintendo), 2. Sonic to Himitsu no Ring (Sega), 3. Hajimete no Wii (Nintendo), 4. Fire Emblem: Akatsuki no Megami (Nintendo), 5. Zelda no Densetsu: Twilight Princess (Nintendo). UK: 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo), 2. WarioWare: Smooth Moves (Nintendo), 3. Sonic and the Secret Rings (Sega), 4. Excite Truck (Nintendo), 5. Rampage: Total Destruction (Midway). Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 moves impressive numbers in its first week of release in the United States, beating out the ever-popular The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in weekly sales. Wii Play still remains at the top of the chart for the time being, however. Europe's list, meanwhile, sees the introduction of Rampage: Total Destruction, which crawls onto the tail end of the chart thanks to a recent price drop at Amazon. Xbox 360 North America: 1. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Ubisoft), 2. Gears of War (Microsoft), 3. Major League Baseball 2K7 (2K Sports), 4. Crackdown (Microsoft), 5. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Ubisoft). Japan: 1. The IdolM@ster (Namco), 2. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (EA Games), 3. Gears of War (Microsoft), 4. Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 (Tecmo), 5. Burnout Revenge -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (EA Games). UK: 1. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Ubisoft), 2. Crackdown (Microsoft), 3. Gears of War (Microsoft), 4. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2K Games), 5. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Ubisoft). Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 continues to be the Xbox 360's best-selling software title for the second week in a row in both the U.S. and the UK. Fellow Clancy-licensed title Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas exhibits renewed sales life in both regions as well. In Japan, EA's Platinum Collection line of budget-priced re-releases seems to be working out well, as two games in the series have attained top sales this week. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. MotorStorm (SCEA), 2. Formula One Championship Edition (SCEA), 3. Resistance: Fall of Man (SCEA), 4. Virtua Fighter 5 (Sega), 5. Call of Duty 3 (Activision). Japan: 1. Gundam Musou (Bandai), 2. Power Smash 3 (Sega), 3. Ridge Racer 7 (Namco), 4. Virtua Fighter 5 (Sega), 5. Resistance: Jinrui Botsuraku no Hi (SCEI). MotorStorm may be the title of choice for PS3 owners in the United States this week, but preorder numbers at Amazon indicate that the upcoming port of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could very well usurp the top position soon after its release next week. Gundam Musou, on the other hand, has experienced a significant slowdown in sales less than a month after its release, and has fallen behind the weekly sales numbers for several titles across all platforms. Among all competing software on its platform, however, Gundam Musou remains Japan's most-wanted PS3 title. PlayStation 2 North America: 1. God of War II (SCEA), 2. God of War (SCEA), 3. MLB 07: The Show (SCEA), 4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (Rockstar), 5. Guitar Hero II Bundle with Guitar (RedOctane). Japan: 1. Kiniro no Corda 2 -- Premium Box (Koei), 2. Kiniro no Corda 2 (Koei), 3. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri (Alchemist), 4. Sengoku Basara 2 -- CapKore (Capcom), 5. Amekoushi no Kan (Nippon Ichi). UK: 1. Final Fantasy XII (Square Enix), 2. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (Rockstar), 3. SingStar (SCEE), 4. EyeToy Play 3 with Camera (SCEE), 5. SingStar '80s (SCEE). God of War II thunders into a first-place finish in PS2 software sales in the United States this week, achieving big sales numbers shortly after its release. Its popularity has also driven renewed enthusiasm for the original God of War, which takes second place on the chart. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories continues to pull decent numbers as well, though in the face of blockbuster releases like God of War II and Final Fantasy XII, it comes up short in chart placement in both the U.S. and Europe. PC North America: 1. The Sims 2: Seasons (EA Games), 2. World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (Blizzard), 3. Supreme Commander (THQ), 4. World of Warcraft (Blizzard), 5. The Sims 2 (EA Games). Japan: 1. Lineage II: Interlude Masters Kit (NC Japan), 2. Heart no Kuni no Alice ~Wonderful Wonder World~ (QuinRose), 3. Shinkyouku Soukai Polyphonica -- 1 & 2 Box Edition (Ocelot), 4. SimCity 4 Deluxe (EA Games), 5. Final Fantasy XI All-in-One Pack 2006 (Square Enix). UK: 1. The Sims 2: Seasons (EA Games), 2. World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (Blizzard), 3. World of Warcraft (Blizzard), 4. Football Manager 2007 (Sega), 5. Supreme Commander UEF Faction Pack (THQ). World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Supreme Commander once again rule the PC front in both the United States and the UK this week, leading to chart results that mirror last week's almost exactly. Few upcoming releases look to be garnering enough popularity to challenge these franchises for their chart positions, though the likes of Command & Conquer 3 and Lord Of The Rings: Shadows Of Angmar could be formidable opponents. Nintendo DS North America: 1. Brain Age (Nintendo), 2. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo), 3. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo), 4. Diddy Kong Racing (Nintendo), 5. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (Konami). Japan: 1. Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side 1st Love (Konami), 2. Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan DS (Namco), 3. SimCity DS (EA Games), 4. Yoshi's Island DS (Nintendo), 5. Theme Park DS (EA Games). UK: 1. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo), 2. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo), 3. Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo), 4. 42 All-Time Classics (Nintendo), 5. Big Brain Academy (Nintendo). Japan's DS sales chart sees a huge shakeup this week, as newcomers Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side 1st Love and Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan DS take over the top two spots previously occupied by Yoshi's Island DS and SimCity DS. Theme Park DS also makes a strong debut, placing fifth overall. Other regions see predictable chart results in comparison, though April's dual release of Pokemon: Pearl Version and Pokemon: Diamond Version could bring about significant changes. PlayStation Portable North America: 1. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Rockstar), 2. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (SCEA), 3. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (Rockstar), 4. Call of Duty: Roads to Victory (EA Games), 5. Burnout Legends (EA Games). Japan: 1. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd (Capcom), 2. Maplus: Portable Navi (Edia), 3. Princess Crown -- Atlus Best Collection (Atlus), 4. Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki FC (Falcom), 5. Talkman Shiki: Shabe Lingual Eikaiwa (SCEI). UK: 1. Sega Mega Drive Collection (Sega), 2. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (Rockstar), 3. Sid Meier's Pirates (2K Games), 4. Mind Quiz (Sega), 5. Medal of Honor: Heroes (EA Games). Interestingly, consumers in the United States seem to prefer the older and budget-priced Burnout Legends to Burnout Dominator, which fails to break into the top five PSP sellers in its first week of release. Amazon reports that the recently released Call of Duty: Roads to Victory achieves much higher initial sales numbers in comparison. Elsewhere in the world, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd and Sega Mega Drive Collection continue to take first place in PSP software sales in Europe and Japan, even after remaining at the top for several weeks in a row.
