Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five exclusively compiled real-time Amazon.com charts for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from November 6th, 2008, find Resistance 2 heading PlayStation 3 sales results in North America, as the recently released Guitar Hero: World Tour faces shortages on multiple platforms due to increasing demand. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 2. Wii Music (Nintendo), 3. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 4. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (LucasArts), 5. Rock Band Special Edition (MTV Games). Japan: 1. Shape Boxing: Wii de Enjoy Diet! (Rocket Company), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. Wii Music (Nintendo), 5. Bokujou Monogatari: Waku Waku Animal March (Marvelous). UK: 1. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 2. Wii Play (Nintendo), 3. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 4. Carnival: Fun Fair Games (2K Games), 5. FIFA 09 All-Play (EA Sports). Mario Kart Wii's supply shortage issues appear to have been finally resolved, as the title has remained in stock at Amazon throughout the week, finishing as North America's top Wii seller. Wii Music rebounds to second place following a disappointing finish last week, while Rock Band returns to the top five in place of the now out-of-stock Guitar Hero: World Tour Band Kit. Elsewhere, Shape Boxing finishes at the top of Japan's charts for the second week in a row, as Mario Kart Wii and Wii Play remain big sellers in the UK. Xbox 360 North America: 1. Fallout 3 (Bethesda), 2. Fable II (Microsoft), 3. Halo 3 (Microsoft), 4. Fable II: Limited Collector's Edition (Microsoft), 5. Tom Clancy's EndWar (Ubisoft). Japan: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Capcom), 2. Tales of Vesperia (Namco), 3. Lost Odyssey -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Square Enix), 4. Ace Combat 6 -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Namco), 5. Assassin's Creed -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Ubisoft). UK: 1. FIFA 09 (EA Sports), 2. Fable II (Microsoft), 3. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 4. Fallout 3 (Bethesda), 5. Halo 3 (Microsoft). This week's results find a pair of soon-to-be-released titles heading Xbox 360 software sales at Amazon. Gears of War 2 finishes as this week's top North American seller based on presale strength alone, with the upcoming Call of Duty: World at War trailing close behind. Fallout 3 continues to lead among currently available titles, as Tom Clancy's EndWar enters the charts in its debut week at fifth place. Grand Theft Auto IV stays on top in Japan, meanwhile, where several new entries in the budget-priced Xbox 360 Platinum Collection finish among the week's top sellers. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. Resistance 2 (SCEA), 2. LittleBigPlanet (SCEA), 3. Resistance: Fall of Man (SCEA), 4. Fallout 3 (Bethesda), 5. Valkyria Chronicles (Sega). Japan: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Capcom), 2. LittleBigPlanet (SCEI), 3. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- Special Edition (Konami), 4. SOCOM: Confrontation (SCEI), 5. Tears to Tiara: Kakan no Daichi -- Limited Edition (Aqua Plus). UK: 1. FIFA 09 (EA Sports), 2. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 3. LittleBigPlanet (SCEE), 4. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (Konami), 5. Fallout 3 (Bethesda). Sony's FPS sequel Resistance 2 takes top honors in its first week of release in the United States, pushing past LittleBigPlanet as this week's biggest software seller on the PlayStation 3. Resistance 2's release also spurs renewed interest in Resistance: Fall of Man, which finishes third in this week's results. Fallout 3 drops to fourth place, meanwhile, as Sega's Valkyria Chronicles debuts at fifth. In Japan, Grand Theft Auto IV trumps LittleBigPlanet for the second week running, while Tears to Tiara mounts a sales comeback at fifth place. PlayStation 2 North America: 1. Lego Batman (Warner Bros.), 2. Rock Band Special Edition (MTV Games), 3. Guitar Hero: World Tour (Activision), 4. Madden NFL 09 (EA Sports), 5. Lego Indiana Jones (LucasArts). Japan: 1. Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou tai Abaddon Ou -- Plus (Atlus), 2. Wrestle Angels: Survivor 2 (Tryfirst), 3. Tales of the Abyss -- PlayStation 2 the Best (Namco), 4. Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou tai Abaddon Ou (Atlus), 5. Hokuouki (Idea Factory). UK: 1. FIFA 09 (EA Sports), 2. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (Konami), 3. Lego Batman (Warner Bros.), 4. WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 (THQ), 5. Quantum of Solace (Activision). The peripheral-bundled Rock Band Special Edition returns to the PlayStation 2 charts in North America this week after a long absence, possibly in anticipation of supply shortages for the upcoming PS2 edition of Guitar Hero: World Tour's Full Band Kit, which has already sold out on other platforms at Amazon. The available standalone edition of World Tour makes another top five finish in the meantime, as Lego Batman continues to head platform sales numbers. The premiering Wrestle Angels: Survivor 2 comes up short against reigning chart leader Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou tai Abaddon Ou in Japan, meanwhile, as FIFA 09 leads over Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 in Europe. PC North America: 1. Fallout 3 (Bethesda), 2. Tabula Rasa (NCSoft), 3. Spore (EA Games), 4. World of Warcraft Battle Chest (Blizzard), 5. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (EA Games). Japan: 1. Chaos;Head (Nitro Plus), 2. Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Bandai Namco), 3. Clannad: Full Voice (Key), 4. Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection (Square Enix), 5. Monster Hunter Frontier Online Season 3.0 Premium (E Frontier). UK: 1. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (EA Games), 2. Fallout 3 (Bethesda), 3. Far Cry 2 (Ubisoft), 4. The Sims 2: Apartment Life (EA Games), 5. Spore (EA Games). After disappearing from the PC charts months ago, Tabula Rasa returns to the top five this week in North America, thanks to a recent drop in price to 96 cents at Amazon. Fallout 3 remains the region's top overall seller, as sales for the World of Warcraft Battle Chest compilation spike in anticipation of the upcoming release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack. Nintendo DS North America: 1. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo), 2. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo), 3. Brain Age (Nintendo), 4. Brain Age 2 (Nintendo), 5. Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir (Nintendo). Japan: 1. Hoshi no Kirby: Ultra Super Deluxe (Nintendo), 2. Wagamama Fashion: Girls Mode (Nintendo), 3. Pocket Monsters Platinum (Nintendo), 4. Rhythm Tengoku Gold (Nintendo), 5. Avalon Code (Marvelous). UK: 1. Professor Layton and the Curious Village (Nintendo), 2. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo), 3. More Brain Training (Nintendo), 4. Cooking Guide (Nintendo), 5. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo). It's business as usual for Nintendo DS software sales in North America, as promising debuts for titles like Kirby Super Star Ultra and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia have since been eclipsed by chart mainstays like New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS. Barring unexpected supply shortages, this week's results should remain consistent throughout the upcoming holiday season. Hoshi no Kirby: Ultra Super Deluxe (Kirby Super Star Ultra) debuts as this week's biggest DS seller in Japan, as Marvelous' Avalon Code takes fifth in its first week of release. The just-released European edition of Professor Layton and the Curious Village tops UK sales in its premiere week, meanwhile, pushing long-time chart leader Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training to second place. PlayStation Portable North America: 1. Lego Batman (Warner Bros.), 2. Secret Agent Clank (SCEA), 3. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Rockstar), 4. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (LucasArts), 5. Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow (SCEA). Japan: 1. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G -- PSP the Best (Capcom), 2. Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida Or 2 (SCEI), 3. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (Konami), 4. WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 (THQ), 5. God of War: Chains of Olympus (SCEE). Secret Agent Clank sneaks back into the U.S. top five this week, thanks to a recent "Deal of the Day" promotional sale at Amazon. Lego Batman heads overall numbers, while last week's chart leader Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow drops to fifth place. A rereleased Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G leads Japanese PSP sales in its second week of release, with Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida Or 2 trailing at second place.
