Gamasutra's latest custom compiled Amazon.com charts find Majesco's Zumba Fitness leading over Just Dance 2 in North America, while Monster Hunter Portable 3rd tops charts in Japan.
Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from February 3rd, 2011, find Majesco's Zumba Fitness leading over Just Dance 2 and Black Ops in North America, while Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and Macross Triangle Frontier top multiplatform sales in Japan. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Multiplatform North America: 1. Zumba Fitness (Majesco, Wii), 2. Majesco's exercise title Zumba Fitness claims the top spot in today's domestic multiplatform sales chart, overtaking last week's sales leader Just Dance 2. New Super Mario Bros. returns to the top five at fourth place, landing between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd keeps its lead in Japan, fending off competition from Bandai's recently released Macross Triangle Frontier, while Just Dance 2 maintains its status as the UK's biggest seller across all platforms. Mistwalker's RPG The Last Story leads Japanese sales for the second week running, with the Gold's Gym Cardio Workout sequel Shape Boxing 2 Wii de Enjoy Diet trailing close behind. Black Ops and Red Dead Redemption see renewed sales momentum in the United States, while Dead Space 2 slides to fifth place after a promising second-place debut last week. With its successor on the horizon, the PlayStation Portable's sales charts continue to be headed by discounted titles and budget-priced rereleases of past hits in North America. The platform shows much more vitality in Japan, where newcomer Macross Triangle Frontier challenges Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for chart dominance.
