Sega and High Voltage Software said Wednesday they are teaming up once again for Conduit 2, a Wii-exclusive first-person shooter follow-up to the 2009 original, which Sega also published. In August 2009, Sega said the original Conduit, also a Wii exclusive, shipped 150,000 units worldwide during launch week last summer. The sequel, which will sport a T-rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board, will launch in fall this year. The sequel again revolves around an alien invasion, and will include a single-player campaign, online multiplayer battles and the new co-op Team Invasion mode. Team Invasion mode will let up to four players fight off aliens on the same screen or online. Competitive online multiplayer will support up to 12-player battles and Wii Speak. Sega of America VP of marketing Sean Ratcliffe called Conduit 2 an "enormous sequel." He added, "Not only does it greatly improve and expand on the original, the online and co-op play modes aim to raise the bar for Wii war games." High Voltage chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger said, "The support for the original has been amazing. The fans have always been a major factor in our development process and their continued enthusiasm has helped make Conduit 2 even better." Recently, Nofsinger told Gamasutra that "The Wii audience isn't a group that wants to be catered to or treated differently." His comments refer to the belief among some developers that Wii gamers are a completely different crowd than the "regular" gamers who play Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
