Sega announced that it is creating a new division within its Sega.com subidiary, called <a href="http://mobile.sega.com">Sega Mobile</a>, which will develop wireless games for cell phones and PDAs.
The first games from Sega Mobile will appear on the market this summer, and one of the launch titles will be a mobile version of Super Monkey Ball. The company said it will tap into its library of past titles and release wireless versions of Pengo, Flicky, Puyo Puyo, and Monaco GP, among others. Sega Mobile is headed by Ryoichi Shiratsuchi, CEO of Sega.com and general manager of Sega Mobile Japan. Sega had previously inked agreements to develop games and game platforms for Palm-based PDAs and Windows-based PocketPCs. It also has a deal to develop games for cell phones with Qualcomm.
