The cut will bring the price of a Dreamcast to $100 in the United States, half of what the console cost when it debuted in 1998 and a third less than its current retail price, when the cut takes effect February 4, and down to 9,900 yen (roughly $85) in Japan beginning March 1. No announcement was made about European price cuts, though the company said that it is considering such a move.
