Serbin Communications has partnered with the Toy Industry Association and Game Developers Conference [a product of the CMP Game Group, like Gamasutra.com] to produce a periodical called Play!, helping illustrators and storyboard artists connect with those in the video game and toy industries. Designed for creative departments, advertising agencies and design firms for toy and interactive game companies, Play! showcases artists with experience illustrating for both of these industries, including skills in 3D, modeling, animation, storyboarding, character development and concept art. The first issue went onto stands in February, and spotlighted 125 artists and their work. The magazine is divided into three main sections, and supplemental material for each issue is available at the magazine website. "After careful research and close consultation with key industry players in these two interrelated industries, it is clear they have a specific and growing need to locate the best 3D artists, illustrators and storyboarders with experience working on toy and interactive game products," said Serbin president Glen Serbin. "I am proud to have the the Game Developers Conference and the Toy Industry Association as partners in this project. Our partnerships prove that Play! is destined to become a primary resource in the industry."
