Square Enix today announced the establishment of Shinra Technologies, a new cloud gaming company that plans to collaborate with numerous studios worldwide, including Ubisoft. This new subsidiary is headed up by Yoichi Wada, previously CEO at Square Enix, and aims to offer games that can be streamed to any game devices, much like offerings such as OnLive. Shinra is already working with a number of game developers, including Ubisoft. Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot believes that cloud gaming is going to be an important part of the future for video games, and is looking to get in on the ground floor with Shinra. Beta tests for the Shinra tech are due to launch in early 2015 in the U.S. and Japan, and Shinra is looking for more game developers to get involved with the project.
