The Smalltalk MT DirectX8 SDK game developers a choice for XBox and PC development beyond using a C/C++ compiler. The Smalltalk MT compiler and the Smalltalk MT DirectX8 SDK offer game developers true Object Oriented design while still maintaining C/C++ frame rates and overall performance. Smalltalk MT offers a full development environment with no need for .h files or .lib files or any other external files. Simply saving a method compiles and links the machine code. This means that any code can be tested in a workspace providing fast unit testing and feedback. Smalltalk MT produces standard portable executables (EXE, DLL and COM) indistinguisable from C/C++. The company claims Smalltalk offers several advantages over C/C++: Evolutionary development since the entire project does not have to compile to run, non-typing for variables meaning faster testing, arbage collection meaning no requirement to release objects once created, and code can be added, changed or deleted while an application is running. The Smalltalk MT DirectX8 SDK is availabe with a personal license for $99.
