Alternative rock band Smashing Pumpkins will debut its new single G.L.O.W. exclusively through Guitar Hero: World Tour with a three-song content pack debuting after the title's launch in October. In addition to including G.L.O.W., the downloadable content pack will feature previously released singles 1979 and The Everlasting Gaze as playable tracks. Smashing Pumpkins singer, songwriter and lead guitarist Billy Corgan will also appear in the title with on-disc track Today. Gamers will be able to watch Corgan perform and will even be able to play as the musician. Previously, alternative rock band Coldplay and heavy metal group Def Leppard released new singles through Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Likewise, Mötley Crüe put out a new song exclusively through rival video game series Rock Band, which was downloaded over 47,000 times in its first week of availability for the Xbox 360 version alone. Activision plans to launch Guitar Hero: World Tour for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 in North America on October 27, 2008. The publisher also recently announced November 12, 2008 as the Australian release date.
