Representatives from Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) have announced that registrations are now open for the company’s annual Fan Faire social gathering event, which will be held this year at the Las Vegas Hilton from August 14th to 17th. Now in its sixth year, the event allows for players of SOE’s various massively multiplayer online (MMO) titles to meet in person, as well as talk to developers and preview forthcoming games and updates. Previous events have seen more than 1,500 fans in attendance. This year’s event will include previews of “three monumental new games in development”, with the comment confirming “something that has to do with capes,” likely a reference to the company’s forthcoming DC Comics title. Live in-game tournaments and quests for the following games will also be made available: EverQuest, EverQuest II, EverQuest Online Adventures, PlanetSide, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Star Wars Galaxies, The Matrix Online, The Agency and Free Realms. For a weekend entrance fee of $89 (or daily pass of $39) attendees will also receive an invitation to participate in the upcoming Free Realms beta test, the EverQuest II expansion beta, and to attend the second annual community address from SOE president John Smedley. Other social activities include a kick-off reception, grand banquet, costume contest and offsite VIP party. Further information, including registration details can be found at the official website.
