Developer Softkinetic has announced iisu, its 3D gesture recognition solution it says can capture full body movements as well as isolated arm and hand movements, along with a new partnership with Virtools to integrate the solution into the latter's suite of 3D products. Softkinetic says iisu is "the result of four years of research and development," compatible with most 3D depth sensing cameras to allow players to become the interface. The product is meant to filter out furniture, walls, and other players when interacted with. The company says its product is built with C and C++ for "high performance and low memory usage" and can be used with C, C++ or C# APIs in synchronous or asynchronous modes for adaptation to any 3D physical engine, allowing developers to use iisu to control navigation, view orientation, object manipulation, action triggers and screen pointing. In a separate release, Softkinetic has announced that iisu will be fully compatible with and integrated into the Virtools 4.1 suite of products. Said Softkinetic CEO Michel Tombroff, "We have been using Virtools for more than four years as our 3D engine and game development tool. Partnering with Virtools, a world leader in 3D solutions, to bring marker-less full-body 3D gesture recognition to life was a natural choice for us."
