Metal Gear Solid 4 has become the second fastest selling PlayStation 3 game of all time in the UK, behind the recent Grand Theft Auto IV and around 2,000 units ahead of the budget priced Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Konami’s long awaited title, which enjoyed a simultaneous worldwide release, was also the second fastest selling entry in the series as a whole, 14,000 units behind the debut of Metal Gear Solid 2 on the PlayStation 2 but 24,000 units ahead of Metal Gear Solid 3. Metal Gear Solid 4 though was released a day earlier than both titles. There are no other new entries in the top ten, although Brain Training (aka Brain Age) has risen eleven places to number three, due to a new Father’s Day hardware bundle and promotion. The game also hit number five in the combined format top ten, where it has remained for the last 74 weeks, just behind the all time record holder -- the original Tomb Raider, which stayed in the top ten for 79 weeks. With the belated PSP version making its debut at number twenty-two and the Nintendo DS version up seven places to number five, overall sales for Lego Indiana Jones fell by just 9 percent in its second week. Konami’s Sports Island (aka Deca Sports) on Wii also saw strong second week demand, up five places to number ten. The highest new entry outside of the top ten was the Xbox 360 version of Civilization Revolution at number eighteen, with the PlayStation 3 version at number thirty-five. Also from Take-Two Interactive, Don King Presents Prizefighter debuts at number twenty-six on Xbox 360. Out of stock for three weeks, Wii Fit finally returns to the charts at number eleven. However, availability of the hardware bundle still appears to be variable throughout the country, with the game continuing to fetch a high price on the grey market. Overall in the top forty there are twelve titles for the Wii, nine each for the Nintendo DS and Xbox 360, eight for the PlayStation 3 and one each for the PlayStation 2 and PSP.
