Sony today announced Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves, a new, multiplayer-only downloadable PS3 platforming title requiring the company's new camera-based PlayStation Move controller. The first official spin-off for Media Molecule's popular customizable LittleBigPlanet, Prehistoric Moves will be focused on ten puzzle-based, prehistoric-themed platforming levels rather than the heavy level-customization and sharing options of its progenitor. The game will allow up to four players using the same system to control LittleBigPlanet's protagonist Sackboys, while one other player uses the PlayStation Move controller to activate in-game switches and platforms. PlayStation Plus subscribers and unspecified "thousands of LittleBigPlanet supporters" will also receive the title for free on December 7. The game will then be available on the American PlayStation Network for $5.99 on December 14, and also as a free inclusion on the LittleBigPlanet 2 disc, which is planned to ship in January. Sony also announced today that a demo for the story mode in LittleBigPlanet 2 would be available for download on December 21, with more PlayStation Plus members receiving access to the game's beta earlier in the month. LittleBigPlanet 2 extends the platform-game creation options of its predecessor with a variety of more powerful tools, allowing for the creation and sharing of full games in a variety of genres. The sequel was recently delayed from a planned November release in to next year to allow the team more time to polish the game's "ambitious ideas."
