Sony Corp. posted a loss of 88.29 billion yen ($810 million) for its April-June quarter. Earlier reports had suggested Sony would post an even bigger loss of $930.1 million, but the actual numbers are no small consolation when compared with the net profit of 18.43 billion yen ($169 million) posted for the same period last year.
