Sony Ericsson has aligned with Tira Wireless, a provider of enabling technology for the Java 2 Platform Micro Edition (J2ME) marketplace, to pump up its mobile game offerings for the North American market. Specifically, the companies are using a platform from Tira—Tira Jump—“to enable quick portability of J2ME applications to Sony Ericsson handsets, which eliminates the need for developers to manually rewrite applications and keep track of multiple versions,” a Tira press release stated. Through the relationship, both parties hope to boost the variety and depth of games currently offered on Sony Ericsson phones and bring new ones to the market faster.
