Sony Ericsson today announced the forthcoming release of its first clamshell phone—a GSM model with a hi-color screen, camera, replacable faceplates, and an optional gamepad. The Z600 phone supports Java- and Mophun-based games, and comes pre-loaded with the V-Rally2 racing game. Available as an optional accessory is the Gameboard EGB-10 controller which adds gamepad-like controls to the phone. The Multi-Action keypad allows for simultaneous key presses. Also available will be the Bluetooth CAR-100— a small, matchbox-sized racecar that can be controlled wirelessly from the Z600 phone. Both products are expected to be available in Q4 of 2003.
