Market research firm Media Create has revealed data for weekly hardware sales in Japan for the week ending July 13th, following details of the software top thirty. With software sales relatively static, there has been little change in the results for any of the major formats this week, with the PSP selling only 500 units more than the previous week at a total of 56,998. The Nintendo DS was again in second place, with its sales up by around 1,000 units to 48,540. Wii sales though dipped slightly, by over 2,500 units, to a weekly total of 41,768. PlayStation 3 sales fell again, by almost 2,000 units, to 12,458 – with the system’s weekly sales now back to largely the same level as before the release of Metal Gear Solid 4. Despite having the number one title with the high selling Persona 4, PlayStation 2 sales actually fell by over 1,000 units to 10,405. Xbox 360 sales fell by a similar amount to a new total of 3,807 units. Overall in the software sales top fifty, there were twenty-six titles for the Nintendo DS, nine each for the Wii and PSP, four for the PlayStation 3, two for the PlayStation 2 and none for the Xbox 360.
