Sony unveiled its plans for PS2 online gaming in Europe, which will launch next Spring.
Consumers will be offered a broadband gaming pack, consisting of an ethernet adapter for the PS2, plus a start-up disc and one as-yet-undetermined game. It will debut in the UK for 44.95 pounds, and will rollout subsequently in Germany, France, Spain, and Australia. The suggested retail price for continental Europe hasn't been established yet, but the company indicated it would be between 49-69 euros. The company said that almost a dozen online games will be available for online play, from Sony, Eidos, EA, Take 2 and Capcom. Sony pledged to make its online adapter compatible with as many European Internet service providers as possible, and said there would not be any monthly subscription fee when the adapter launches.
