The Xperia Z2 was presented in February this year and after repeated delays, it is now finally available in stores around Europe. There is a lot to say over the phone: Sony has the predecessors which were presented in 2013 IFA and now, six months later, the Xperia Z2 is here. This strategy will also apply to the successor of the Xperia Z2, because Sony is of the opinion that a high-end smartphone must have the latest technology. And it works best with shorter product cycles.

Design

The Xperia Z2 looks at first sight exactly like any other Xperia Smartphone, we have the equipment some not technically affine friends about us shown and given into the hands. The reaction, It has no difference to the Xperia Z determined from the year 2013. But if one looks more closely, you will realize that Sony has yet optimized and adds its Omni Balance design over the past generations. Sure, it is still an edgy and fairly square design, but now the edges are slightly rounded. Nevertheless, the fact remains that the design is not really good and comfortable in the hand. In everyday life, it is found very often that the case is rather bulky than comfortable. And at a height of 146mm and a weight of 163g, the feeling comes very often.

Processing

Regardless of how it looks in the hands the Xperia Z2 has a premium processing. It has a front and rear tempered glass located in the middle of a frame made from a single block of metal, which holds the housing and the construct gives a stable quality feeling. As we do not know from Sony differently. It supports mostly interactive apps which have exceptional android application development. Even the Xperia Z2 is a certified IP55 and IP58 smartphone. It is dust and water resistant and can be kept under water for 30 minutes at a depth of up to 1.5 meters.

All in all, we see a familiar design with an exceptionally good workmanship.  the macroscopic perspective has changed very little, yet it stands out strongly from all other smartphones designs . An operator with a medium sized hand find it difficult to handle,   certainly at the latest when typing on the QWERTY keyboard, it requires two hands. And even though the standby button is very well placed on the right side, the Xperia Z2 dominates the so-called double-tap gesture in comparison to its predecessor. That means, you can type in standby mode twice on the display and the display is woken up already. The phone is not thereby completely unlocked, but you can see the time, date, and any incoming messages. Unfortunately, this gesture does not work backward: So you cannot lock the phone with a double click.

Camera

The camera on the front page takes photos in 2-megapixel and videos in 1080p. The quality is satisfactory It has high-resolution camera on the back, its sensor can record total of 20.7-megapixel. The question is now just why as a high resolution needed, because not everyone wants to make posters. And those who want it, will certainly take a proper camera and not a smartphone. No, that's well so far right, It's not about the high resolution, but the crop factor and the related zoom. If you want to therefore take a picture, so you can go in the meantime in the image without that quality suffers. In the end, comes out an 8-megapixel image.
