Square Enix, Obsidian Partner For Dungeon Siege 3

Square Enix has announced a partnership with Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas) to publish Dungeon Siege 3, a follow-up to Gas Powered Games' RPG series, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows in North America. Developed with input from Gas Powered Games and the franchise's creator Chris Taylor, who will serve as an advisor for the project, Dungeon Siege 3 will be the first release for the series on a home console -- previous installments appeared only on Windows and Mac PCs, and on PSP. In Dungeon Siege 3, players return to the war torn land of Ehb to rebuild the "disgraced protectors of the land" known as the 10th Legion while fighting to stop the kingdom's decent into darkness. Obsidian says it will deliver a blend of action gameplay with an RPG system, as well as "the depth of story Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment are known for creating." The game also promises customizable character classes with a wide range of abilities to choose from, companions with unique personalities and views on the world around them, the ability to play in single-player and co-op multiplayer modes, and opportunities to make decisions that impact alliances, enemies, and different endings. Square Enix says this publishing deal is representative of its ongoing partnerships with Western game developers and its commitment to expanding its footprint in the North American market. Just last March, it published Supreme Commander 2, a real-time strategy game also from Gas Powered Games for Xbox 360 and Windows.
