Take-Two, Tor Team Up For BioShock Novel

Notable sci-fi book publisher Tor, current home of the Halo books, will publish a BioShock novel in Fall 2009 that promises to "take you deeper into the realms" of the franchise's story. The book's announcement comes as a teaser page within the company's late 2009 book catalog, recently provided to Gamasutra. Other than a release date of Fall 2009 and the note that there will be both hardcover and paperback releases of the 400-page book, no more information is given. Notably, the book catalog's index lists the author for the page in question as 'Ken Levine' -- but this may simply be because the novel is based on his concepts, rather than his actual writing. Tor, a sci-fi and fantasy book publisher for many years and publisher for authors such as Orson Scott Card, Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind, has been pushing further into game-novel crossovers in recent years. Eric Nylund and Joseph Staten's Halo novel series have been a success for Tor, and the catalog promises "a [book] collection of brand new, world expanding stories" in Fall 2009 from that universe. The company has also just published a Dragon Age novel from BioWare's lead writer for the game, David Gaider. Tor will also publish EVE: The Burning Life in North America this year, based on popular space-based MMO EVE Online. The book, written by CCP lead narrative creator Hjalti Danielsson, is also scheduled to be published by Gollancz in Europe later in 2009.
