Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
THQ announced today that it will establish THQ Wireless, a new division aimed at developing content for mobile entertainment.
Doug Dyer has been named general manager of the new division, and several games are already in development for Java-based mobile phones. The first such game is scheduled to be released this fall, and THQ is planning to show it at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo, although no other details on the game were provided. THQ said it is currently exploring potential opportunities with wireless operators, handset manufacturers, and mobile network equipment manufacturers around the world, in hopes of becoming a leading content provider in the mobile space. THQ Wireless will be based in Calabasas, Calif., with other operations carried out in various European offices. Also, THQ has expanded its previous publishing agreement with Siemens AG's Information and Communication Mobile Division. Currently, the two companies are working on developing a universal API for Java-based development for mobile phones.
