THQ, publisher of the UFC Undisputed series for home consoles, has adapted the mixed martial arts franchise into a social game and launched UFC Undisputed Fight Nation on Facebook today. For its first Facebook game, THQ once again partnered with Zuffa, LLC, parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship organization. Vancouver-based social game boutique studio Embassy Interactive developed the title. In UFC Undisputed Fight Nation, players advance their virtual character from a student to professional in their virtual careers, learning moves from different martial arts disciplines like Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling along the way. Players can pit their character against Facebook friends or other UFC Undisputed Fight Nation members, level up, unlock access to items like training camps, and earn skill points that give their characters more energy, stamina, and health. Users earn "Cred" as they play, which they can spend on upgrades at the in-game store. They can also spend real money on items to progress their career faster, and send energy, stamina and health boosts to friends as gifts. Along with UFC president Dana White offering guidance to players, the game also features prominent fighters like Cain Velasquez, Anderson Silva, Georges St.-Pierre and Frankie Edgar to compete against. While this is the first UFC game to appear on Facebook, Digital Chocolate previously released MMA Pro Fighter on the social network, and has so far attracted more than 1.7 million monthly active players, according to AppData.
