Electronic Arts, one of the largest video game publishers in the industry, has named Gabrielle Toledano as its new senior vice president of human resources. Prior to the appointment, Toledano served the same role at Siebel Systems, and has worked in human resources in various capacities for Microsoft and Oracle. "This is a great opportunity to work with one of the most creative and dynamic companies in the entertainment industry," said Toledano. "On PC's, mobile phones, and next generation consoles like the Xbox 360, EA is changing the way people all over the world experience entertainment." "Gabrielle has a distinguished record of service and organizational development in the technology sector," said EA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Larry Probst. "She understands the strategic importance of attracting and retaining talented people and EA's goals for leading the growth of interactive entertainment worldwide." Toledano's job may not be the most straightforward one at the mammoth publisher and developer, as the hiring comes just after several human resources-related challenges within the company. EA recently laid off 5% of its global workforce, and the company went through a class action suit regarding overtime pay and quality-of-life issues in 2005.
