Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see EA's The Sims 3 World Adventures leading iPhone sales in its debut week, while Real Racing HD tops the iPad sales rankings.
Every week, sister iPhone site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see EA's The Sims 3 World Adventures leading iPhone sales in its debut week, while Real Racing HD tops the iPad sales rankings. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing U.S. App Store titles are: 1. The Sims 3 World Adventures ($6.99) 2. Monopoly ($4.99) 3. The Simpsons Arcade ($0.99) 4. Call of Duty: World at War Zombies ($9.99) 5. We Rule (Free) 6. The Game of Life Classic ($1.99) 7. Scrabble ($2.99) 8. Bejeweled 2 ($2.99) 9. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) 10. Words With Friends ($2.99) Last week's chart winner Zenonia 2 drops out of the top ten, as EA's The Sims 3 expansion World Adventures takes top honors in its first week of release. EA's Monopoly follows at second place, while The Simpsons Arcade makes its chart debut following a price drop. Ngmoco's microtransaction-supported kingdom sim We Rule takes fifth place this week, finishing ahead of EA's The Game of Life, Scrabble, and PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies, which returns to the chart after dropping out of the top ten last week. Civilization Revolution for iPad ($12.99) Firemint's Real Racing HD tops Apple's iPad charts in the iPad's debut week. Enhanced versions of Scrabble and Plants vs. Zombies also prove popular among early adopters, while the chart's most expensive title, EA's Need for Speed Shift for iPad, takes fourth place. EA's iPad-exclusive Mirror's Edge trails behind Laminar's flight sim X-Plane and Firemint's air traffic management game Flight Control HD in the week's sales rankings, as Illusion Labs' Labyrinth 2 HD takes a spot between the iPad strategy titles Command & Conquer Red Alert and Civilization Revolution.
