Apple's U.S. iPhone game charts by revenue see PopCap's tower defense title Plants vs. Zombies heading sales results, while Call of Duty gets a boost from a content update.
Every week, sister iPhone site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone and iPod Touch applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. iPhone revenue charts see PopCap's tower defense title Plants vs. Zombies heading daily sales results, while Call of Duty gets a boost from a content-expanding update. This chart allows end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing U.S. App Store titles are: 1. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) 2. Call of Duty: World at War Zombies ($9.99) 3. Rock Band ($6.99) 4. Bejeweled 2 ($2.99) 5. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars ($9.99) 6. Doodle Jump ($0.99) 7. The Sims 3 ($6.99) 8. Words With Friends ($2.99) 9. All-in-1 Gamebox ($0.99) 10. Tetris ($4.99) PopCap's undead-themed tower defense game Plants vs. Zombies takes top honors in its first week of release, outselling all competing App Store titles. Activision's Call of Duty: World at War Zombies also sees a successful week, with sales boosted by a recent content-expanding update. EA's Rock Band falls to third place after leading the charts for the last two weeks. PopCap's Bejeweled 2 follows at fourth, as Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars climbs to fifth place after a weekend-long price drop. Tapulous's Riddim Ribbon is nowhere to be seen among this week's top titles, despite a promising start at fourth place last week. EA's The Sims 3 and Lima Sky's Doodle Jump remain strong sellers, meanwhile, as Newtoy's online word puzzler Words With Friends overtakes Triniti's app compilation All-in-1 Gamebox for eighth place.
