Apple's latest U.S. iPhone game charts by revenue see EA's Rock Band surpass former sales leader Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, as Spore Creatures and X Games Snowcross make impressive debuts.
Every week, sister iPhone site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone and iPod Touch applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. iPhone revenue charts see EA's Rock Band surpass former sales leader Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, as Spore Creatures and X Games Snowcross make impressive debuts. This relatively recently-added chart allows end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing U.S. App Store titles are: 1. Rock Band ($6.99) 2. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars ($9.99) 3. Call of Duty: World at War Zombies ($9.99) 4. Bejeweled 2 ($2.99) 5. Doodle Jump ($0.99) 6. The Sims 3 ($6.99) 7. Spore Creatures ($6.99) 8. X Games Snowcross ($4.99) 9. Tetris ($2.99) 10. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? 2010 ($1.99) EA's iPhone edition of Rock Band surpasses Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars to become today's biggest-grossing game title in the iTunes App Store. Activision's Call of Duty: World at War Zombies and PopCap's Bejeweled 2 hold steady at third and fourth place, while Lima Sky's Doodle Jump moves up past The Sims 3 to take fifth. EA's Spore Creatures and ESPN's X Games Snowcross make their chart debuts this week, landing at seventh and eighth place. Tetris falls to ninth, as Capcom's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? joins the top ten after a recent price drop.
