[Every week, sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra.] This week's U.S. revenue charts see Cartoon Wars 2 and Game Dev Story make a big impression in iPhone sales, while Restaurant Story emerges as a top seller on the iPad. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. Cut the Rope ($0.99) 2. Angry Birds ($0.99) 3. Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus ($6.99) 4. Cartoon Wars 2: Heroes ($0.99) 5. Trainyard ($0.99) 6. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 ($9.99) 7. Restaurant Story (Free) 8. Game Dev Story ($3.99) 9. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) 10. Tap Zoo (Free) Chillingo's physics puzzler Cut the Rope remains the App Store's highest-grossing game for the second week running, as Angry Birds overtakes Gameloft's first-person shooter sequel Modern Combat 2 for second place in today's chart results. Newcomers Cartoon Wars 2 and Trainyard finish at fourth and fifth place, while Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog 4 drops to sixth place after debuting at third last week. TeamLava's microtransaction-supported Restaurant Story follows at seventh, as Kairosoft's business simulation title Game Dev Story leads over Plants vs. Zombies and Tap Zoo at eighth place. Here are this week’s top-grossing iPad applications: 1. Cut the Rope HD ($1.99) 2. Angry Birds HD ($4.99) 3. Restaurant Story (Free) 4. Scrabble for iPad ($9.99) 5. Tap Zoo (Free) 6. Plants vs. Zombies HD ($9.99) 7. City Story (Free) 8. Across Age HD ($7.99) 9. Pocket Frogs (Free) 10. Madden NFL 11 ($12.99) As Cut the Rope HD and Angry Birds HD continue to lead platform sales, Restaurant Story proves to be an even bigger hit on the iPad than it is on the iPhone, pushing up past Scrabble for iPad to claim third place in its debut week. The free-to-play favorites Tap Zoo, City Story, and Pocket Frogs report continued success via microtransaction revenue, as FDG's action-RPG Across Age HD and a returning Madden NFL 11 close out today's charts.
