Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see EA's FIFA World Cup taking the lead over Angry Birds and Guitar Hero, while Illusion Labs' Foosball HD sees strong sales in its debut week.
[Every week, sister iPhone site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra.] This week's U.S. revenue charts see FIFA World Cup taking the lead over Angry Birds and Guitar Hero, while Illusion Labs' Foosball HD sees strong sales in its debut week. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. FIFA World Cup ($2.99) 2. Angry Birds ($0.99) 3. Guitar Hero ($2.99) 4. Tetris ($2.99) 5. Call of Duty: World at War Zombies II ($9.99) 6. NBA Live ($0.99) 7. Bejeweled 2 ($2.99) 8. Doodle Jump ($0.99) 9. The Sims 3 ($4.99) 10. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) EA's FIFA World Cup finishes as today's top-grossing iPhone game app, following a recent price drop and renewed customer interest thanks to the ongoing World Cup tournament. Last week's chart champion Guitar Hero drops to third place, as Clickgamer's Angry Birds climbs up to take second. EA's Tetris gets a boost to fourth place this week, while Activision's Call of Duty: World at War Zombies II and a discounted NBA Live trail close behind. Here are this week’s top-grossing iPad applications: 1. Scrabble for iPad ($9.99) 2. Plants vs. Zombies HD ($9.99) 3. Real Racing HD ($9.99) 4. Pinball HD ($2.99) 5. Angry Birds HD ($4.99) 6. Foosball HD ($2.99) EA's Scrabble remains a popular pick among App Store customers more than two months after the iPad's U.S. launch, and the title currently leads iPad game sales for the third week in a row. Plants vs. Zombies moves up past Real Racing HD to take second place in today's results, as Gameprom's Apple Design Award-winning Pinball HD finishes fourth. Backflip Studios' Paper Toss HD has disappeared from the top ten after an impressive fourth-place debut last week. Illusion Labs' Foosball HD is off to a promising start at eighth place, meanwhile, as Flight Control HD and Civilization Revolution continue to see strong sales from week to week.
