Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see Monopoly and Bejeweled 2 + Blitz rank high among iPhone apps, as Tap Resort Party and We Farm win big in iPad sales.
Every week, sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see Monopoly and Bejeweled 2 + Blitz rank high among iPhone apps, as Tap Resort Party and We Farm win big in iPad sales. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. Angry Birds ($0.99) 2. Monopoly ($2.99) 3. Bejeweled 2 + Blitz ($2.99) 4. The Game of Life: Classic Edition ($2.99) 5. Tetris ($2.99) 6. Words With Friends ($2.99) 7. Doodle Jump ($0.99) 8. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) 9. NFL 2011 ($6.99) 10. FarmVille (Free) While EA's Risk has since dropped out of the top ten after premiering at second place last week, a handful of the company's iPhone board game adaptations have seen a rapid rise in popularity. Monopoly and The Game of Life rank high in today's charts after recent sales, though neither title is able to unseat Clickgamer's reigning chart champ Angry Birds. PopCap's Bejeweled 2 + Blitz also sees an increase in sales following an update adding the new "Boosts & Coins" gameplay mechanic previously introduced in the Bejeweled Blitz Facebook application. Tetris, Words With Friends, Doodle Jump, and Plants vs. Zombies remain popular favorites, meanwhile, as Gameloft's recently launched football sim NFL 2011 beats out Zynga's microtransaction-supported FarmVille for ninth place. Here are this week’s top-grossing iPad applications: 1. Angry Birds HD ($4.99) 2. Scrabble for iPad ($9.99) 3. Tap Resort Party (Free) 4. Plants vs. Zombies HD ($9.99) 5. Zombie Farm (Free) 6. Chopper 2 ($2.99) 7. AirAttack HD ($0.99) 8. Real Racing HD ($9.99) 9. We Farm (Free) 10. Fishies (Free) Angry Birds HD overtakes EA's Scrabble to earn first place in today's top-grossing iPad games chart. Brooklyn Packet's free-to-play management sim Tap Resort Party claims third place in its debut week, as its competitor Zombie Farm lags behind Plants vs. Zombies at fifth. Recent favorites like Osmos and Modern Conflict HD are nowhere to be found among this week's top-grossing titles, though Majic Jungle's Chopper 2 and Art In Games' shooter AirAttack HD make impressive debuts at sixth and seventh place. Real Racing HD hangs on at eighth, as ngmoco's We Farm and PlayMesh's Fishies drum up enough in-app purchase sales to finish out today's chart at ninth and tenth place.
