Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see Villain's FPS Archetype edge up the iPhone sales rankings, as Osmos and Modern Conflict HD make a big impression in the iPad charts.
Every week, sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see Villain's FPS Archetype edge up the iPhone sales rankings, as Osmos and Modern Conflict HD make a big impression in the iPad charts. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. Angry Birds ($0.99) 2. Archetype ($2.99) 3. Tetris ($2.99) 4. Doodle Jump ($0.99) 5. Bejeweled 2 ($2.99) 6. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) 7. Cake Doodle ($0.99) 8. Doodle God ($0.99) 9. Words With Friends ($2.99) 10. Scrabble ($2.99) Villain LLC's arena-based first-person shooter Archetype moves up to second place in today's chart after previously finishing third. Clickgamer's Angry Birds keeps the top spot, as EA's Tetris moves up past Lima Sky's Doodle Jump to take third place. Doodle God's popularity has cooled after an impressive second-place debut last week. The title lands behind newcomer cake decorating sim Cake Doodle at eighth place, leaving the competing word games Words With Friends and Scrabble to close out today's sales rankings. Here are this week’s top-grossing iPad applications: 1. Osmos ($4.99) 2. Angry Birds HD ($4.99) 3. Scrabble for iPad ($9.99) 4. Modern Conflict HD ($1.99) 5. Family Feud HD ($4.99) 6. Farm Story: Summer (Free) 7. Zombie Farm (Free) 8. Plants vs. Zombies HD ($9.99) 9. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition for iPad ($9.99) 10. Tap Birds (Free) Hemisphere Games' PC-ported puzzler Osmos leads as today's top-grossing iPad application across all categories, dropping former chart leader Angry Birds HD to second place. Microtransaction-supported titles like Zombie Farm, Farm Story: Summer, and Tap Birds continue to generate steady revenue, meanwhile, as Clickgamer's strategy title Modern Conflict HD finishes its debut week at fourth place.
