Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see Tap Zoo and Restaurant Story leading iPhone dollars spent, while Gamevil's Modern Combat 2 emerges as a top seller on the iPad.
Every week, sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see Tap Zoo and Restaurant Story leading iPhone sales, while Modern Combat 2 emerges as a top seller on the iPad. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. We Rule Quests (Free) App Store customers gravitate toward free-to-play titles in today's chart results, as TeamLava's Restaurant Story and Streetview Labs' Tap Zoo rival reigning chart champ Angry Birds with impressive microtransaction earnings. A Thinking Ape's Kingdoms at War and Haypi Kingdom also emerge as top-grossing free-to-play titles, as Gamevil's Baseball Superstars 2011 trumps Halfbrick's updated Fruit Ninja and Gameloft's Spider-Man: Total Mayhem in its premiere week. Backflip Studios' Ragdoll Blaster 2 disappears from the top ten after an impressive second-place debut last week, meanwhile, as newcomers Uno HD and Treasure Seekers enter the chart at ninth and tenth.
