Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see Angry Birds and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 leading iPhone sales, while World of Goo and Risk emerge as top sellers on the iPad.
Every week, sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see Angry Birds and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 leading iPhone sales, while World of Goo and Risk emerge as top sellers on the iPad. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. Angry Birds ($0.99) 2. Infinity Blade ($5.99) 3. Words With Friends ($0.99) 4. World War (Free) 5. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ($0.99) 6. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit ($0.99) 7. Angry Birds Seasons ($0.99) 8. Tetris ($0.99) 9. Secret of Mana ($8.99) 10. Cut the Rope ($0.99) Rovio's Angry Birds narrowly edges out Epic Games' Infinity Blade for the top spot in today's iPhone chart, ending Infinity Blade's two-week reign as the platform's highest-grossing game title. Newtoy's Words With Friends also gets a chart boost this week, following a drop in price to 99 cents. Storm8's multiplayer online game World War moves up to fourth place after reappearing at eighth last week, while EA's discounted Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Tetris report bigger earnings than Square Enix's recently released Secret of Mana. EA's Monopoly and Scrabble continue to rank among the platform's biggest sellers, while fellow board game adaptation Risk outsells Angry Birds Seasons at seventh place.
