Ubi Soft Announces Year-End Sales Results

<a href="http://www.ubisoft.com">Ubi Soft</a> announced its fiscal year 2000-2001 sales results, posting net consolidated sales of $239 million, up 39.4% over the previous year.

The company had an outstanding Q4 (which ended March 31), with net sales hitting $72.3 million -- up 52% over the same period last year. When its various acquisitions are factored out (the company acquired 3D Planet (Italy), Sinister Games (USA) and Red Storm (USA), and Blue Byte (Germany), net sales for financial year 2000/2001 amount were up 13.5%. Net earnings were not announced. The company attributed its healthy Q4 and fiscal year sales to the following:

  • The success of Red Storm's Rogue Spear Blue Byte's Settlers IV, plus internal titles F1 Racing Championship and the Rayman series.

    • Expansion of sales outside of France. Sales in the UK and Germany more than tripled from the year prior, North American sales were up 30%, and The Asia-Pacific region grew by 100%. As a result, 76% of Ubi Soft's sales came from outside France, compared to 69% in the year prior.

    • Increasing PS2 sales. The company said that sales of PS2 products now exceed sales of PSX products in terms of value, and accounted for more than 20% of Q4 sales.
