Ubisoft has officially announced the latest in its Tom Clancy lineup with HAWX, bringing the license into aerial combat territory, in development by its Bucharest studio for a Fall 2008 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. First alluded to in September of 2007, Ubisoft says the game will deliver "an intense and authentic aerial combat experience by fully leveraging the benefits of the next-generation platforms." The game will feature what Ubisoft calls an "enhanced reality system" to guide novice pilots with radars and incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damage control system, tactical map and information relay, and weapons trajectory control, as well as assistance mode to ease players into missions. The game will also feature four-player co-op mode for its solo campaign, as well as PVP mode for up to 16 players in dogfighting sessions for experience points and money to unlock new weapons. Said senior sales VP Tony Key, "Tom Clancy's HAWX marks the next evolution of warfare set in the Tom Clancy video game universe. We are thrilled to take to the skies and provide a new environment along with an extension of a familiar storyline from Ubisoft's successful Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.”
