Ubisoft and retail chain Target released a limited edition version of Shaun White Snowboarding with exclusive content and features, sold only at its 1,684 Target stores across 48 states. The Target edition is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii, along with standard versions of the game released this week. Non-branded editions of Shaun White Snowboarding are also available for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, and PC. The exclusive content includes a Target mountain environment, "jibs" (snowboarding moves on non-traditional objects), and scenes. There is also a virtual version of the Target Chalet, a real-life mountainside home where titular snowboarder Shaun White and other Target-sponsored athletes are said to congregate. The Target Chalet is the only indoor environment available for the game. Ubisoft reportedly spent $10 million to advertise Shaun White Snowboarding and other titles with commercials running across NFL games, episodes of Family Guy, and the season premiere of South Park. Other recent partnerships with retailers and publishers include a deal struck between Wal-Mart, MTV Games, and hard rock group AC/DC to exclusively carry AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack, a multiplatform Rock Band standalone retail game released earlier this month. The Wal-Mart-exclusive title, however, does not contain any branded content. “We are really excited about the additional content our exclusive version of Shaun White Snowboarding brings to Target guests,” says Target Lifestyle Marketing's Troy Michels. “With the help of Ubisoft and Shaun, we think the Target limited edition of the game offers an enhanced experience and helps showcase the Target brand and our partnership with Shaun.”
