There are no new entries in the UK sales top 40 this week, as the post Christmas lull continues to bite. Nintendo’s Wii Fit is still the number one seller of the week, in both the individual and all-platforms chart, despite a 15 percent drop in sales. Most titles in the individual platform charts saw a similarly-sized drop in sales, with the main exception being Professor Layton and the Curious Village on Nintendo DS, which was up 54 percent. After a bungled European launch before Christmas, when low stock failed to keep up with heavy advertising, this is the first time the game has remained in the top 10 for two consecutive weeks. With new releases SimAnimals and CSI: New York both failing to make the top 40, the only debuts this week are re-entries, lead by the Wii version of Ubisoft’s Shaun White Snowboarding at number 17 and the Xbox 360 version of Eidos’ Tomb Raider: Underworld at number 30. In the separate all-platforms chart, which combines all SKUs of a game into a single chart position, Activision’s Call of Duty: World at War maintains its second place spot with a fall in sales of 11 percent, while EA’s FIFA 09 moves up one place to number three with a 9 percent rise in sales. Overall, in the top 40 chart by individual platform, there are 13 titles for the Xbox 360, 12 for the Wii, eight for the Nintendo DS, five for the PlayStation 3, one each for the PC and PlayStation 2 and none for the PSP.
