Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Nintendo’s Wii Fit is still at number one in the UK sales charts, with new entries F.E.A.R. 2 and The House of the Dead: Overkill unable to dislodge it. Also re-entering the charts this week is the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV.
Nintendo’s Wii Fit is still at number one in the UK sales top 40, with its sixth consecutive week at the top of the individual platforms chart. Despite a 10 percent drop in sales, the hardware bundle managed to outsell new entries such as F.E.A.R. 2 and The House of the Dead: Overkill. Wii and DS platform exclusives occupy the entire top six this week -- five of them published by Nintendo. Most have simply shuffled position from previous weeks, although Ubisoft’s My Fitness Coach moves up six places to number five thanks to new retailer promotions. The Xbox 360 version of F.E.A.R. 2 is the highest new entry this week at number seven, with the PlayStation 3 version at number 13 and the PC version at number 28. The game marks the second major success in the UK for Warner Bros. Interactive, after last year’s Lego Batman. The other major new entry this week is 18+ rated Wii exclusive The House of the Dead: Overkill. Developed by UK studio Headstrong -- the first title in the series to be developed outside Japan -- the game debuted at number 10. Also notable this week is the re-entry of the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV at number 23, with the imminent release of downloadable content The Lost and Damned already seeming to have an effect on sales. In the separate all-platforms chart, which combines all SKUs of a game into a single chart position, Wii Fit enjoyed its fifth week at the top, followed by F.E.A.R. 2 at number two and Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir at number three. Its success only apparent when all SKUs are combined, D3Publisher’s cartoon license Ben 10: Alien Force debuts at number 13 – despite not registering in the individual platforms chart. Overall, in the top 40 chart by individual platforms, there are 13 titles for the Wii, 10 for the Nintendo DS, nine for the Xbox 360, six for the PlayStation 3, two for the PC and none for the PSP and PlayStation 2.
