UK Game On Event Adds Developer Lectures

Organizers of the new Game On event at the British Science Museum have revealed that the exhibition will also be accompanied by a series of supporting activities, including lectures by prominent British games developers. Beginning on November 1st, Nicolas Rodriguez of developer Kuju will give a talk entitled “Dancemats and Joysticks: Who’s playing now” on the increasing importance of novelty controllers in the market. On November 13th, Eidos’ Ian Livingtsone will present “10 years of Lara”, giving a retrospective of the popular character and her games. November 20th will see David Braben, co-creator of Elite, give a talk entitled “Gaming: Now and then”, charting how the industry has changed over the last twenty to thirty years. Finally, Professor Mark Griffiths of Trent University will present “Gaming in Mind” on November 28th – discussing the psychology of interactive technology. The Game On exhibition, sponsored by Nintendo, runs at the Science Museum from October 21st, 2006 to February 25th, 2007 and features more than 120 playable video games charting the history of the industry from 1962 onwards.
