UK Trade and Investment, a government body that assists companies with overseas expansion, is hosting a program for UK-based businesses to attend seminars in Japan to promote UK companies' growth in the region. The trip will include seminars in Tokyo and either Osaka or Kyoto, with opportunities for participating companies to schedule meetings outside those formally set up by UK Trade and Investment. The focus of the seminars will be for video game companies to gain awareness of the complexities of doing business within Japan, and to educate them on the current social and economic climate of the market. Those who join the program will also be able to establish contacts with the Japanese companies partnering with UK Trade and Investment, and to examine business opportunities within the country. The program will also include support from UK Trade and Investment in the form of translated brochures and in-country advice; guidance from the program's Mission Leader, a reception at the UK Embassy to meet new contacts, discounts on travel lodgings, and a grant of 700 pounds to accepted companies. The deadline for companies to apply to the program is December 16, 2005; those wishing to apply can contact UK Trade and Investment either by email or by phone at 020 7215 4806.
