UK-based Revolution Software (Beneath a Steel Sky) said it is entering handheld development with the new division Revolution Pocket, which will create games for iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, PSPgo, and DSi. The first game to come out of Revolution Pocket will be Beneath a Steel Sky - Remastered for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game is a remake of the original revered 1994 computer adventure game, enhanced with a touch screen interface. Working on the game's animated movies with Revolution is Dave Gibbons, co-creator of the Watchmen graphic novel. Revolution, which is also responsible for the Broken Sword series, said its handheld games will place an emphasis on narrative-based games specifically for online and over-the-air distribution. “The adventure genre is undergoing a renaissance, and we’re thrilled to be bringing a revamped and remastered version of this classic adventure to a whole new audience,” said Revolution founder Charles Cecil. He added, "Beneath A Steel Sky – Remastered is just the start of what we want to do. We’ll be announcing more Revolution Pocket titles soon – some of which people will recognize, others which will be wholly original." Beneath A Steel Sky – Remastered is due in August this year on the AppStore. Pricing is to be announced, but Cecil promised Revolution Pocket's games will have "incredible value for the money."
