Electronic Arts’ The Godfather license has overcome a disappointing debut to gain the number one spot in the UK in its second week on sale. Xbox 360 and PC role-playing game Oblivion has continued to perform well, though, and the appearance of Ubisoft’s new Far Cry title in the top ten shows continued strong performance for Xbox 360 exclusive titles that already rivals that of the original Xbox in the UK. Nintendo will also be relatively pleased with this week’s sales charts, as Animal Crossing: Wild World debuts at number six on the back of a significant marketing campaign, targeting in large part female gamers. The new yearly PC update for soccer management game Championship Manager has entered in at number nine. This represents a strong entry for a PC-only title, but is well below the sort of performance enjoyed in the series’ heyday, before original developer Sports Interactive left to create the Football Manager series for Sega. Other new entries outside the top ten include Ubisoft’s combat flight simulator Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII at number twelve, and movie tie-in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown at number fourteen (which is likely to launch itself into the top ten, once the movie is released in the UK next week). Multiformat arcade racer OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast has debuted at number eighteen for Sega, while PC television tie-in CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder has entered at number thirty-nine.
