Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has become the second fastest selling Xbox 360 in the UK this week, behind Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, accounting for 56 percent of all sales of the title compared to the PC version. Never previously a significant series in the UK, the success of the latest The Elder Scrolls game is further evidence of consistently high software sales for the Xbox 360 in the UK, even while hardware sales remain relatively subdued. The success of the game meant that Electronic Arts had to settle for second place with the much delayed release of The Godfather. Although a relatively disappointing debut for such an expensive and highly promoted title, it is expected to have significant staying power in the charts. Although there are no other new entries in the top ten, both Buzz! The BIG Quiz and Driver: Parallel Lines have moved one space up the chart, with the former continuing to outperform expectations. Outside the top ten, the highest new entry is the budget priced, and critically queried, Pro Evolution Soccer Management at number twelve, with Worms: Open Warfare on the PSP and Nintendo DS debuting at number sixteen.
