Although the upcoming Game Design Expo 2008 at Vancouver Film School is sold out, the college is inviting prospective students who are interested in game design to visit the campus on Sunday, Jan. 20 for an open house. Visitors will be invited to tour the facility, meet with faculty, and learn about the one-year game design program from noon to 4:00 p.m.. The open house is free and will also include sample classes, hands-on displays of video games that VFS alumni have helped create, and talks from faculty and working graduates. The keynote speakers for the expo will be Bungie Studios’ Jay Weinland and CJ Cowan, two of the team leads on Halo 3. Other lectures and panels will feature designers, producers, and CEOs from many top companies, including Activision, BioWare, and Stormfront Studios. The conference, which is now in its second year, is scheduled for Jan. 19 and 20 in Vancouver. To register to attend the open house and more information about the expo, visit gamedesignexpo.com.
