Global financial services company Visa has launched a FIFA World Cup-branded online soccer game that teaches players financial basics and money management skills. The game is part of Visa's ongoing effort to distribute finance-related educational materials worldwide. Visa plans to reach more than 20 million people worldwide with its content by May 2013. Financial Soccer (Financial Football in other territories) quizzes players on money management issues in between soccer plays. Correct answers advance players down the field and bring them closer to scoring a goal for the nation selected in their online profile. Player statistics are tracked across multiple regions, and an online leaderboard tracks which countries have given the most correct answers. An NFL-licensed version of Financial Football is also available in North America. Visa notes that Financial Soccer may also be used as part of a financial literacy curriculum. Lesson modules for instructors are available for download at the Financial Soccer website.
