Magic The Gathering creator Wizards of the Coast has announed a new partnership with Carmageddon developer Stainless Games to develop a yet unspecified "online downloadable game" to be released in early 2008. Neither company offered any details of the forthcoming game. Stainless Games most recently has been behind a number of Xbox Live conversions, including Atari remakes like Missile Command and the early XBLA port of Mac cult shooter Crystal Quest. Though primarily a tabletop and card game dealer, Wizards of the Coast has itself recently been making more inroads into the video and online game sphere including its new gamer community portal and strategy game digital distribution hub Gleemax.com. Said Stainless CEO Patrick Buckland, “Wizards of the Coast has created many of the most popular brands in roleplaying, trading card and tabletop strategy games. We’re proud to be working with one of the most treasured IP’s in the games field in a true partnership which will produce a real gaming revolution later next year.”
