X Media Lab Hosts Serious Games Event at Sydney Film Festival

Creative workshop initiative X Media Lab will host a serious games event at the upcoming Sydney Film Festival. The event spans a keynote conference day and a two-day development lab and competition.

Creative workshop initiative X Media Lab (XML) will host a serious games development event at the upcoming Sydney Film Festival in Sydney, Australia. The event will include a two-day Serious Games Lab, during which educational and documentary game projects will be showcased and judged by a panel of industry experts. Finalist projects will each receive AUD$15,000 to further develop their displayed concepts. The Lab's winning game will receive AUD$325,000 toward full-scale research and development. Prior to the competition, XML will produce a Pro Day Conference featuring notable figures from the serious games industry. Attending guests will include The Inspiracy president Noah Falstein, Persuasive Games founder Ian Bogost, and games writer and designer Lee Sheldon. XML's event will begin on June 12th with a keynote conference day open to general admission. The Serious Games Lab will follow on June 13th and 14th. Lab applications are now closed, but conference registration will remain open until June 12th.
